Insurgent socialist candidate Melat Kiros defeated longtime Rep. Diana DeGette (D-Colo.) Tuesday in Colorado’s 1st District House primary, marking the latest blow to the establishment wing of the Democratic Party. Kiros came out on top of the incumbent, 49.3% to 43.5%, by the time the Associated Press called the race late Tuesday. Kiros’s win in the solidly blue district follows a string of victories by socialist and far-left candidates over incumbent and establishment-backed Democrats in New York in June, and it’s expected to tilt the political makeup of the House Democratic caucus even further to the left after the midterm elections. Kiros, who was born in Ethiopia, has faced criticism for her anti-Israel views and refusal to describe the firebombing of a pro-Israel rally in Boulder as antisemitic. Denver Post via Getty Images“Now is not the time to gamble and send somebody with no experience to Washington,” DeGette, a 15-term Democrat, pleaded at a candidate forum last week.First elected to the House in 1997, DeGette, 68, has represented the Denver area in Congress longer than Kiros, 29, has been alive. “We need a strong, bold, hardened leader who will hold Trump accountable, and when we win the majority in November, will have real power to move the US to a more just and affordable America … That leader is me,” DeGette argued. DeGette boasted endorsements from Colorado’s Democratic congressional delegation, the House Progressive Caucus, Planned Parenthood Action Fund and several prominent labor unions.  House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) told reporters Monday that DeGette was “forcefully making her case” for re-election while cautioning, “We’ll see what happens.” Jeffries went on to blame President Trump for the “unsettled electoral environment” wreaking havoc on incumbent Democrats, according to CBS News.  With Trump being in office, “It’s not a surprise that there are highly competitive primaries in deep blue parts of the country that are also unfolding this cycle,” the Brooklyn Democrat said. DeGette has served the Denver area in Congress since before Kiros was born. Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is raising eyebrows amid a contentious midterm election — and not for his political platform. Paxton, 63, was spotted traveling from Washington, D.C., to Iceland on Saturday, June 27, with a woman multiple outlets are reporting as his alleged mistress, Tracy Duhon, including the Daily Mail and The Daily Best. The pair were spotted together at Dulles International Airport, boarding a flight to Reykjavik, Iceland’s capital. They were seated in economy during the flight, per the Daily Mail. Us Weekly has reached out to Paxton’s office and Duhon for comment. While Ken is still legally married to State Senator Angela Paxton, the pair — who share four adult children and five grandchildren — are currently going through a very public divorce following her husband’s alleged infidelity. “Today, after 38 years of marriage, I filed for divorce on biblical grounds. I believe marriage is a sacred covenant and I have earnestly pursued reconciliation. But in light of recent discoveries, I do not believe that it honors God or is loving to myself, my children, or Ken to remain in the marriage,” Angela, 63, wrote via X in July 2025. “I move forward with complete confidence that God is always working everything together for the good of those who love Him and who are called according to His purpose.” Angela, a Republican representing the McKinney, Texas, area, filed a petition for divorce in Collin County and accused her husband of adultery. Mark Harmon Returns to NCIS: Origins: What Changed?

After a shocking exit from NCIS, Mark Harmon is returning to the prequel — and will be appearing in all episodes in season 3. CBS confirmed on Tuesday, June 30, that Harmon, 74, will reprise the role of present day Leroy Jethro Gibbs. He will appear in all episodes in the upcoming season as "part of a present-day mystery tied to his ‘90s Camp Pendleton days in an action-packed story that unfolds all season long," the synopsis teased. Harmon previously reprised his role as Gibbs in the prequel's crossover event with NCIS in November 2025. In the opening scene, a present-day version of the character reflected on his life while in a cabin with a dog. "Three decades, it's a hell of a long time. That's how long I put in on the job. Lately, I've been thinking a lot about those early days," he recalled. "Back when I was still cutting my teeth. Over the years, the outside changes but inside you still feel all the same thing." Gibbs continued: "A long time ago, I worked with a dog that had a first and a last name. He's a good guy, just like you. I was lucky. I worked with a lot of good guys." Harmon's return to the NCIS universe came years after his initial exit. “Four years ago, Gibbs disappeared to Alaska to live a life of solitude,” executive producers David J. North and Gina Lucita Monreal said in a statement before the season 2 episode of NCIS: Origins aired. “We know how much fans have missed seeing Mark and have wondered what Gibbs is up to today. Well, on November 11, we’re so excited to announce that Mark Harmon will return as Leroy Jethro Gibbs in the Origins hour of the NCIS crossover event. We don’t want to give too much away, but let’s just say Gibbs is no longer alone.” Harmon also addressed his decision to return, saying, “I’m very proud of the storytelling that David and Gina are doing on Origins. They continue to push boundaries and dive deeper into the characters’ backstories. They came to me with an idea for Gibbs that I liked, and it seemed like a good time to check in with him. I hope fans enjoy it.” Harmon, who has remained an executive producer of both shows and is a narrator on the NCIS prequel, hadn't played Gibbs on screen beyond Origins' 2024 pilot. The actor made his NCIS debut as Gibbs in 2003, going on to play the lead role for 18 years.
